While each step can be managed manually for a start, this module is designed to be “Set & Forget” whereafter it will automatically run in the background, systematically cleaning up historical orders and maintaining optimized HPOS tables going forward.

Priority-Based Order Flagging

  • Input: Order status, order age, order type, customer type, and retention settings.
  • Action: Flags orders based on configurable priority rules.
  • Result: Different order types can follow different cleanup timelines.

For example, you can flag orphaned orders after 30 days, guest orders after one year, and normal completed orders after two years.

Flagged Order Review

  • Input: Orders identified by cleanup rules.
  • Action: Displays flagged orders with reasons and available bulk actions.
  • Result: Admins can review, protect, trash, or delete orders manually or automate the process.

Order Protection

  • Input: User level protection and order level protection is available.

Yes. You can select to receive a notification email when an order is flagged. It’s optional whether flagged orders should be trashed and its optional whether trashed orders should be deleted.

Does Wuclean delete orders automatically?
Only if you enable automated trashing and deletion rules. You can also use manual review and manual cleanup actions.

Can I protect important orders?
Yes. You can protect all orders for a specific user via the user profile, or you can protect selected flagged orders, preventing these orders from trashing and deletion.

Can I set different retention periods?
Yes. You can use flexible retention periods for different order types, such as orphaned orders, guest orders, test orders, and normal orders.

What about compliance and record-keeping?
You should configure retention periods to match your legal, tax, and operational requirements. If order data is archived through another system, you may choose to retain less historical order data on the live website.

Will it delete customer accounts?
No. Registered customer accounts are managed separately in the Customer Cleanup module. Order cleanup focuses on HPOS order records and related order data.
